Since the info on this blog says that "the process" is the goal rather than "producing a translation," perhaps we should simply publish a list of translations that people still think look attractive at the end of the debate, and then move on to the next verse. There may be no need for coming to a consensus.
First, I'm not really sure that I understand the point of rendering the New Testament in "plain English" hasn't this already been done? More than once? Isn't it more correct to say that what you're doing is creating an "interpretation" of the scripture?
Secondly, and on a more helpful basis. You should look into a Wiki format for your work. Wikipedia (the best example of the medium) had evolved some very sophisticated ways to reaching consensus on many divisive issues. If the intent of your project is to create a collaborative interptrtation this may be the way to go.
